On the first visit, Tanya will take down detailed information about the symptoms you are experiencing, your past medical history, and your general health. She may then ask you to remove outer layers of clothing so that she can fully assess your posture, spine, muscle tone and joint movements to make a diagnosis. Sometimes orthopedic tests are required. The consultation usually takes 45 minutes.
Tanya will then let you know what her findings are, whether treatment is appropriate and how many sessions it is likely to take. Occasionally treatment is not appropriate and you may need to be referred to your gp or another health professional.
Your treatment with Tanya may include mobilisation of joints, deep tissue massage, manipulation and other gentle hands on techniques that relieve pain and increase mobility. The treatment sessions are half an hour.
Cranial osteopathy is another technique that Tanya uses, which is safe, gentle and non-manipulative. Therefore this is often used when treating newborn infants and young children.
